University Overview
Africa International University is a chartered Christian university located in the serene environment of Karen, a strategic location, serene and conducive for learning. Africa International University currently trains students in Theology, Business, ICT, Psychology, Languages and Education.
The University has staff and students from over 32 countries from the five continents. This year the university graduated students from Liberia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, U.S.A, Madagascar, Ghana, Nigeria, Congo DRC, Malawi, Seychelles, Gambia, Ethiopia, Eretria South Sudan among others.
The university hopes to train more Christ centered leaders for the church in Africa and beyond to actively and positively participate to impact the world. We have designed our programs in the various areas of professional specialization for our graduates to transfer the learning to their careers.
This Procedures Manual strives to meet the quality standards and excellence expected of the university senate, Management and Commission for University Education. It seeks to address challenges faced by Faculties, students and ODeL staff. The language used is simple and factual. I hope you will this manual beneficial to the operations of Open, Distance and eLearning.

To provide electronic-based accredited courses, and associated support services, to students through nontraditional methods of course delivery to afford flexible access to classes and programs of study.
Purpose and Goals of ODeL
The purpose of the ODEL Department at AIU is to provide quality instruction through electronic technologies to enable students to attain their educational goals and to acquire and support appropriate emerging technologies for curricular, instructional and administrative enhancement consistent with our strategic initiative.
- Instructional Services Goal
The ODEL Programs will provide online learning environments that foster change in the individual; are not bound by the constraints of time and place; are collaborative are creative with electronic delivery; are driven by learner need; have measurable, predictable outcomes; provide quality online courses comparable to traditional delivery; and engage learners in an active mode.
- Student Support/Service Goals
ODEL will continually strive to develop, modify, and improve procedures for providing satisfactory support services to distance learners in areas such as assessment, admissions, registration, counseling, library services, financial aid, and advising using such means as email, telephone, web pages, and mail.
- Fiscal, Growth, and Finance Goals
ODEL will provide quality administration, sufficient facilities and equipment, and appropriate financial management to support the mission of the AIU. To evaluate periodically and comprehensively every facet of the eLearning program and to use these results to restructure and improve the program to ensure distance learners will be retained at the same or higher rate than traditional student enrollment and success rate.
- Professional Faculty/Human Resources Goals
The Department of ODEL to provide professional development that demands the highest professional teaching standards for teaching via the Internet; encourages continuing growth development, technology training among faculty; and recognizes the importance of faculty participation in the institution’s ODEL programs.
